Re-Elect Curtis Horton
for Carson City
Supervisor Ward 3
MEET CURTIS

Curtis Horton is a longtime Carson City resident and is a huge fan of the City. It's his love of our City and community that prompted him to run for Carson City Supervisor Ward 3.
Curtis spent more than 3 decades in public service. All of those with the City's Public Works department. He started as a water crewman and rose through the ranks to the department's Deputy Director position before retiring.
Curtis has received many accolades over the years and has been credited with helping build strong relationships within and between the City's many departments and partnering agencies. His ability to problem solve, combined with his strong work ethic and take-charge attitude allow him to continue to successfully represent our community's interests as our Ward 3 Supervisor.
Curtis and his wife, Joy, have loved raising their family here. They now have three grown children. Their two sons followed Curtis into public service and are members of the Carson City Fire Department; his daughter is a realtor. He and Joy have five adorable grandchildren and are also raising their super smart grandniece. Curtis wants to ensure Carson City remains a great place to live, work and play, and that young families will continue to make Carson City their home.
Curtis is an avid outdoorsman and takes advantage of our City's world-class outdoor recreation and open spaces. He also enjoys getting out on our area lakes and exploring Nevada backroads. He vows to continue protecting and enhancing those resources and to serve this community with price and commitment if re-elected.

PRIORITIES
As your supervisor I am committed to:
-
Infrastructure Maintenance and Repair
We must maintain proper funding and programs to address our City's infrastructure needs. Several of our assets have suffered from deferred maintenance in past years; however, many have been addressed and we will continue to make improvements. As we move forward, street repairs will remain a top priority. We have encouraged new ideas and out-of-the-box thinking to advance this priority. The conversion of the V&T tax to the Road and Highway fund will bring $2.1 million annually to local road repair, in addition to the existing funding for the crack fill and slurry seal program. Funding will always be challenging, but I will work diligently to accomplish this goal and, over the next few years, ensure we make significant strides in this area.
-
Public Safety
I will continue to support public safety as I have for many years, and I will continue to support funding of programs and projects that make our community and our first responders safer. Public safety will always remain a high priority for me, as we work to ensure a strong emergency response capability that provides the highest level of service to our citizens and visitors.
-
Corridor Projects
I will ensure that the remaining corridor enhancement projects stay on track and on schedule. Carson City has enhanced the gateways entering the City, and North Carson is next. These projects not only provide aesthetic improvements but also address necessary utilities, traffic, ADA, and other infrastructure needs, making our town more reliable, functional, and inviting. Our corridors are the first thing visitors to our community see, and I am committed to ensuring that we make a welcoming first impression.
-
Small Business Development
I will continue to support small businesses that help drive economic development. We also need industries that pay well and provide a great working environment for their employees. Carson City is a wonderful place to raise a family, and we need businesses and industry to provide opportunities for young families to thrive here and help build our future.
-
Enhancing our Outdoor Lifestyle
We have wonderful parks, recreational programs, and open spaces. I will continue to work to make them even better. Our beautiful outdoor facilities are an asset to our residents and visitors alike. I will ensure we protect them.
-
Keeping Carson City a Great Place to Live
Carson City is a great place to live, and I will continue to work with all City departments to keep it that way. I will work to make sure it stays safe, clean, inviting, and welcoming to all. I want everyone to take pride in our community and will lead by example.

Candidate Forum, October 10, 2022
Curious what Curtis stands for? A special thank you to the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, Sierra Nevada Forums and AAUW Capital (NV) Branch for presenting the 2022 candidate forum at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Although he is not one who seeks the limelight it was nice seeing the community engage with its local candidates and express local challenges and concerns.
